EOCO Busts Human Trafficking and Fraud Ring in Kumasi; 320 Arrested

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has announced a significant breakthrough in the fight against human trafficking and fraud, following a major operation in Kumasi that led to the arrest of 320 individuals. The coordinated raid, carried out on November 6, 2025, by EOCO’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, has been lauded as the largest anti-human trafficking effort ever conducted in Ghana.

Out of the 320 individuals apprehended, preliminary investigations suggest that 25 are believed to be the principal perpetrators behind a widespread employment scam and human trafficking scheme. The remaining 295 individuals are identified as victims, many of whom were reportedly lured from various parts of the country with false promises of lucrative employment, educational opportunities, and international travel, often under the guise of a network marketing company, QNET.

EOCO stated that the arrests were the culmination of several months of meticulous investigations. The agency is currently working in close collaboration with QNET officials to address the severe misuse of the company’s brand name by fraudulent individuals and groups. The victims are undergoing thorough screening and arrangements are being made to provide them with shelter and facilitate their reintegration with their families.

This operation underscores the government’s renewed commitment to combating economic and organised crime. EOCO has reaffirmed its dedication to bringing perpetrators to justice and encourages the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to their offices. The success of this operation sends a strong message that Ghana will not tolerate such exploitative practices within its borders.
