Black Stars Begin Final World Cup Preparations in United States

Ghana’s Black Stars have settled into their United States base as they enter the final phase of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The team departed Wales last week after a training camp and friendly against a select team, with all eyes now fixed on their tournament campaign beginning in June across the USA, Mexico and Canada.

Coach Carlos Queiroz finalized his 26-man squad earlier in June, with the squad now focused on final conditioning and tactical drills ahead of Ghana’s opening Group L match against Panama on June 17 in Toronto.

The Road Ahead

The Black Stars face a challenging group, with England (June 23, Foxborough) and Croatia (June 27, Philadelphia) as their other opponents. All three matches will be played in different cities across North America, requiring both physical and mental resilience from the squad.

“We’re in a group of death, but we’re prepared,” sources close to the team indicated. The training camp in the US gives the team crucial time to acclimatise to American conditions, adjust to the time zone, and build chemistry before the tournament kicks off.

Back Home Support

Ghanaians can follow all of the Black Stars’ matches on free-to-air television. Over 10 local TV stations, including GTV, have been confirmed to broadcast the matches live, ensuring fans across the country can support their national team during this historic tournament.

The 2026 World Cup will be the largest ever, with 48 teams competing for football’s most prestigious prize. Ghana’s participation adds to the excitement as the nation hopes to improve on their previous World Cup appearances.
