Beposohemaa Nana Amanfo Resigns After Trade Fair Board Appointment

Nana Amanfo, a prominent newscaster and presenter at Power FM, has resigned from the station following her appointment by President John Mahama to the Ghana Trade Fair Company (GTFC) board. She announced her resignation on October 30, 2025, via a Facebook post, although she had ceased working a few weeks prior. Nana Amanfo joined Power FM in 2018.

Her appointment to the GTFC board was part of a broader initiative by President Mahama to constitute a new board to revitalize the company, which had been inactive for several years. The new board, which includes Nana Amanfo and is chaired by Kwame Owusu Sekyere, was inaugurated in July 2025 by the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Honourable Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare.

The board’s mandate is to reposition the GTFC, make it profitable, revive Ghana’s trade fair culture, and establish the country as a significant trade promotion hub in the West African sub-region. Before her official resignation announcement, Nana Amanfo had already begun her duties, sharing a video of herself inspecting works at the Trade Fair site with other board members.

The news of her appointment and subsequent resignation has evoked mixed reactions among her online followers, with some expressing happiness for her new role and others lamenting her departure from Power FM. Nana Amanfo expressed gratitude to Power FM’s management, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Oheneba Boamah Bennie, and her colleagues for their support.
